Laurie is both a talented artist and an inspiring teacher. Her workshops provide a positive and supportive environment in which one can learn, experiment and make aesthetic discoveries. As an instructor she is warm, energetic, passionate and knowledgeable. A+ for: expertise, technical skills, product information and demonstrations. She is generous with her personal tools, materials, resources, secret tricks and feedback. Her snacks are also stellar. I plan to attend more of Laurie’s workshops in the future.

I just attended a weekend workshop held in Laurie Skantzos' studio taught by this very talented artist. Laurie dove me into a world of oil and cold wax - a place I had never been. What an experience! I was trepidous to say the least, having never used oil media and being quite new with painting but it turns out that it was a very good place to start exploring. Laurie was very kind and encouraging - such a helpful, important vibe for letting my creativity flow. She was very thorough in the instructive times- giving many tricks for advancing our techniques throughout the weekend. She let me create at my own pace and was an excellent guide when looking for advice. It was also very noteable how generous Laurie was with her supplies, her space and her knowledge! Her studio is really lovely- big windows for light.
I highly recommend attending a class by Laurie. She is a natural instructor, a very talented creator, and a gentle soul.

Laurie’s stress-free, playful teaching style allowed me to explore, learn and grow fully supported on my terms, at my pace and in my way. I left my 2-day Cold Wax workshop confidently hungry to do more!

The weekend changed my life. Well, ok, not a 360, but it fed my desire to create with paint and encouraged me to continue at home...as in let's turn the spare room into a studio type thing 😅 I loved it - highly recommend Laurie's art workshops!

Laurie Skantzos is both an inspiring artist and a wonderful teacher. After attending Laurie's 2-day Oil and Cold Wax workshop in 2019, I left with so many new ideas that I am truly grateful. Laurie has a gift for responding to individuals' works, assisting artists of all skill levels to advance their art.

I love Laurie's workshops.
I have taken two workshops with Laurie and have learned so much!
I first took an acrylic workshop and then an oil and cold wax workshop.
Laurie has a calm friendly manner with her teaching, she is always encouraging and helpful. No stress, just a time to be creative!
I am definitely going to take more classes with her in the future.
